INDIANAPOLIS — An investigation is underway after a man died following a house fire on Indianapolis' east side.
The Indianapolis Fire Department said crews responded to a house fire on the 1400 block of Temperance Avenue, near Southeastern and Terrace Avenues, around 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23.
When crews arrived on scene, they said they saw heavy fire and smoke showing from the garage.
The department said they made an "aggressive attack," and the fire was brought under control in 10 minutes.
A man on scene, who told fire crews he owned the home, was found in the backyard "alert and oriented," the department said.
The man was checked on scene by medics. After being checked out, crews said he refused further treatment and/or transport.
