HILTON HEAD, S.C. — Second Helpings, a nonprofit food rescue organization, is asking for donations in support of families affected by the government shutdown.

Following the announcement that Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will be held due to the federal shutdown, Second Helpings, an organization that supports Beaufort, Jasper, and Hampton counties with food insecurity, has announced that it is requesting donations to help agencies replenish their food supplies and support families facing food insecurity during the government shutdown.

Donations will be used to purchase food in bulk and replenish 55 food pantries, soup kitchens, family and senior programs in the area.
