TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A pedestrian was struck twice by two vehicles in Tangipahoa Parish on Monday, Oct. 27.

According to the Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred on Interstate 55 near Highway 40 around 3:00 a.m.

A 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe was reportedly traveling north in the left lane and struck a pedestrian in the roadway. After the initial crash, a 2020 Freightliner truck struck the pedestrian again.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.

LSP officials said the drivers of the Hyundai and the Freightliner were uninjured.

According to the LSP, the investigation is ongoing and routine toxicology samples were collected.
