GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) — Grand Island Police are urging additional road safety this Halloween.

Officers say finding a designated driver is essential for anyone planning to drink on Halloween. They also stressed the importance of putting cellphones down and avoiding other distractions while driving.

According to Buzzell, Welch and Hill Law Offices, Halloween sees more child fatalities in car accidents than any other day of the year.

“We as drivers of vehicles need to make sure of everything that’s going on around them, obviously the biggest thing is to slow down and not be drinking and driving,” said Dean Elliott, division chief with the Grand Island Police Department.
