UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) -- Another Mid-State Correctional Facility officer found out his fate in Oneida County Court on Monday in the beating death of Messiah Nantwi.
First reported by the Daily Sentinel on Monday, October 27. Former corrections officer Daniel Burger was sentenced by Judge Michael Nolan to one year and four months to four years in state prison. Burger pleaded guilty in August to one charge of offering a false instrument for filing.
On March 1, Burger -- along with several other officers -- are accused of attacking Nantwi and beating him to death inside of the Mid-State Correctional Facility in Marcy. Prosecutors also say that those officers conspired to cover up the incident
