Rollerblades are a “no.” Baby strollers are a “yes.” Bicycles and skateboards are a “no.” Wheelchairs are a “yes.”

Earlier this month, members of the Barrington Town Council voted unanimously to enact a new local law that will prohibit certain wheeled devices from some recreational areas in town.

The newly-passed ordinance states “No person shall ride, operate or use any wheeled recreational device, including but not limited to bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, scooters, or shoes with built-in wheels, upon any court surface utilized for sports such as tennis, pickleball or basketball at any recreation area as defined in this chapter.”
