Wet leaves pose triple threat to drivers, experts warn

As leaves and rain fall this week, drivers need to take caution.

“Driving on wet leaves is a bigger hazard than people realize because you have a wet road, it's almost three times as much of a stop time than if you are trying to stop on wet leaves,” Mulcahy said.

According to Mulcahy, if you were to compare three cars going 40 mph, one on a dry road the stopping distance is 80 feet, one on a wet road, and one is 160 feet, the stopping distance on the car driving on wet leaves can be around 250 feet.
