A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder after an altercation between two groups left a man dead at a popular nightlife spot.
The incident occurred at 11.45pm on Saturday after two groups of people clashed on Morrison St in the Salamanca entertainment district in Tasmania's capital city.
Police believe it was linked to a previous incident involving a person from each group.

As a result of the altercation, two men - one aged 20 and one aged 23 - were stabbed.
The 20-year-old man died at the scene, whilst the other man remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police commenced an investigation, and have now charged a 17-year-old boy with multiple offences.
