NEW ORLEANS — A building inspector charged with falsifying reports and bribing New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell has filed suit against the city and neighboring Jefferson Parish for blocking him and his company from performing construction safety checks.

Randy Farrell and his third-party inspection firm, IECI & Associates, filed the federal complaint Monday, alleging the two governments violated Farrell’s constitutional rights when they revoked or suspended his licenses without a hearing or the chance to appeal. The suit accuses both governments of due-process and equal-protection violations and seeks reinstatement of his third-party inspection licenses, compensatory and punitive damages, and an injunction against further “retaliation or discrimination.”
