LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man shot by Louisville police early Monday morning has died, and a woman who was allegedly shot by that man is in critical condition.

According to Assistant Chief Emily McKinley, officers were called at about 2 a.m. to Ridgecrest Road near Rosette Boulevard on a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a woman who had been shot. Before officers had a chance to help her, McKinley said a man carrying a gun approached them. The officers told him to stop, but he reportedly continued to come toward them and pointed the weapon.

That's when one of the officers shot the man as he continued to approach. Both the man and woman were taken to UofL Health Hospital. LMPD later said the man died at the hospital.

The woman was last reported in critical condit
