TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Tucson Police Department is set to enhance its domestic violence investigations with new camera technology aimed at detecting hidden injuries.

The specialized cameras can identify injuries on domestic violence victims that are typically invisible without such technology.

Katlyn Monjoe, director of the Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault (SACASA), emphasized the significance of this advancement.

“We know there are so many more victims not yet connected to the care they deserve,” Monjoe said.

Monjoe, who has directed SACASA for seven years, oversees more than 60 survivors of domestic abuse in hospitals each month. However, she noted that many victims remain unseen and unheard, often reluctant to speak out.
