President Donald Trump's Big Beautiful Bill, approved by all four West Virginia members of Congress, gave $74.9 billion to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. This sum is greater than the military budget of every country in the world, save eight.

Of the $74.9 billion for ICE, close to $30 billion is intended for enforcement and deportation. A whopping $45 billion is earmarked to create 50 new detention centers, adding to an existing 186.

Meanwhile, Gov. Patrick Morrisey, per executive order, has partnered with ICE, allowing the agency to use West Virginia State Police to arrest undocumented immigrants at traffic stops and then detain them in already overcrowded West Virginia prisons.
