Homeowner Ric Griffith, who's been doing this since 1991, said more than 1,500 volunteers over the course of a week carved the gourds, which were then set out and individually lit from the inside for maximum visual effect.
Why does he do this?
"I guess I'm a little OCD," he said with a laugh Monday.
"It began as a family activity," Griffith said. "But it was the response that people had [to the Pumpkin House] that grew the desire in me to do more."
