When you get into any vehicle, pretty much the first thing you should do is fasten your seatbelt. However, few people will know that there are some circumstances when this is not necessary.

According to the official Highway Code, which appears on the GOV.UK website , people "must wear a seat belt if one is fitted in the seat you're using". It also stated that "there are only a few exceptions" where this isn't mandatory.

As most of us understand, you're also allowed just one person per seat that's equipped with a seatbelt. And you could face a fine of up to £500 if you fail to wear a seatbelt when required to do so.
