MURRAY – Unlike last year, this Halloween is unlikely to be deterred by rain, so this year’s Trail of Treats in Murray’s Central Park is expected to go off without a hitch.

The annual Trail of Treats is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Friday, and Parks Director Mike Sykes said 30 vendors had registered to participate as of Monday afternoon. Monday was the deadline, but Sykes said he usually does not turn down businesses and nonprofit organizations that call to sign up at the last minute as long as he still has room along the walking trail parallel with Gil Hopson Drive, the road leading into Central Park.

“We’ll take them until probably the day before, and even that day, we could probably still find them a spot,” Sykes said. “There's plenty of places, and we try to keep them fairly spread out. Y
