The Albanese government has failed on five of six integrity metrics, according to an independent research institute’s latest report, as an independent Senator hit out at Labor's "broken promises".

The Centre for Public Integrity released its “Integrity Report Card” on Tuesday that suggested Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s Parliament “faces serious integrity challenges”.

The report evaluated Labor’s actions in six categories: transparency, merit-based appointments, limits on undue influence, strengthening the public service, support for institutions holding power to account and protections for whistleblowers.

After six months back in office, the centre argued the Albanese government has failed on five of those and must "reset course" to honour its election commitments to transparency.
