A victim who witnessed the shocking murder of soldier Lee Rigby in London had an axe pulled out on him by a 52-year-old man in a separate incident.
In an incident in which a judge said “there is more to it than meets the eye”, Derby Crown Court heard how Roy Langdon held the weapon above his head and told the man: “Leave my area or I will chop you.”
The defendant, of Chaddesden, later told the police it was a fence he actually waved about, but when officers searched his address they found two axes inside it.
Handing him an eight-month jail term, suspended for 18 months, Judge Martin Hurst said: “The facts of this case are a little opaque and there is more to it than meets the eye, that’s for sure.
