A future development proposal for what was formerly known as Southland Mall and much of the surrounding area was announced recently by Cutler Bay officials in an email newsletter on the town’s website. The financially troubled mall now is owned by Urban Retail Properties and an ambitious plan to renovate the area has been proposed.

“Big things are on the horizon for the future of SouthPlace City Center,” the posting said.

“The Town of Cutler Bay continues to stay closely involved in the redevelopment of the former Southland Mall site, working directly with the ownership team.
