YOUNGSTOWN Jack Sheetz, the suspect charged in connection with an alleged rape and kidnapping that took place in Canfield in 2000, was transferred to the Mahoning County Jail early today to face those charges.
Sheetz, 57, was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Akron last week and was initially held at the Summit County Jail. The transfer now places him in Mahoning County to answer the indictment issued by the Mahoning County Grand Jury.
The Mahoning County Court Grand Jury indicted Sheetz on three felony counts: one count of rape and two counts of kidnapping.
Sheetz is the long-sought-after suspect in the assault, which involved a rape and baseball bat attack on a 30-year-old woman outside business offices on North Broad Street in November 2000.
