TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute woman accused of stabbing and killing her cousin has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Nichola Leroy was charged with murder and aggravated battery after her cousin, Wasu Laplante, was found in a pool of blood in a hallway of a Terre Haute residence, according to court documents.

In September, Leroy pleaded guilty to the aggravated battery charge, leading to the murder charge being dismissed.

Leroy appeared in court on October 27 for a sentencing hearing. She has been sentenced to 14 years in prison on the aggravated battery charge.
