BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) — The former Beaufort County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) deputy who was seen on a viral video pointing his gun at teenagers in late September has been charged by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

William P. "Billy" Squires, 41, was arrested and charged at approximately 7:48 a.m. on Tuesday by SLED. He is facing four counts of pointing and presenting firearms at a person and one count of breach of peace aggravated in nature, according to officials.

Squires was terminated on Oct. 3 after teenagers recorded an altercation with the former deputy at the Squiregate Community in Hilton Head, where he pointed his gun at them while attempting to detain them. Squires was wearing a BCSO vest and badge when the incident occurred.
