FLINT, MI -- The city is committing $1 million in opioid settlement funds to contract with the Greater Flint Health Coalition to develop, fund, and oversee programs aimed at addressing the fallout from the opioid crisis.

Flint City Council approved the spending during its meeting on Monday, Oct. 27, and a staff review provided to the council says the arrangement aims to support organizations, agencies, and community groups working on treatment, prevention, and support services.

“We want to make sure that these dollars get into the hands of the people who are impacted by the opioid epidemic,” Kelly Ainsworth, project director for the GFHC, told council members during a committee meeting last week.
