The New Orleans Saints are bringing in a rookie at quarterback for Week 9.
Second-round pick Tyler Shough will make his first career NFL start on Sunday, Nov. 2, against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport first reported the news Tuesday, stating that the team was informed of the decision earlier in the day.
Shough, 26, entered in the third quarter of last Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as former starter Spencer Rattler continued to struggled. The second-year QB won the job over the rookie in training camp, but the team went just 1-7 under his watch. Rattler had six turnovers in his last six full quarters of action before being benched.
