RED SPRINGS — A double homicide that occured Monday just outside of Red Springs is under investigation by the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office.
At approximately 6:04 p.m. Monday, Hoke County deputies responded to the 1000 block of Cope Road, located just outside Red Springs and just north of the Robeson-Hoke county line, in reference to a cardiac arrest. Upon arrival, deputies discovered two unresponsive individuals.
The victims were reportedly identified as Ted Chavis and Joann Chavis, who were shot and killed in their home, according to the News Journal in Raeford.
A 17-year-old who was wanted in connection with the murders died late Monday night after shooting himself in Lake Waccamaw, Columbus County Sheriff Bill Rogers said, according to the News Reporter in Whiteville. He was found on
