A person was arrested in south Alabama after allegedly making “credible threats of violence” against several synagogues in Alabama and surrounding states, authorities said Wednesday.
According to the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office , multiple agencies were notified of the threats, including the FBI, 1st Judicial Circuit District Attorney, and 1st Judicial Circuit Special Response Team.
The suspect was not immediately identified.
The individual suspected of making the threats was arrested in Needham Monday night after a warrant was executed to search the individual’s residence.
The sheriff’s office said that when the suspect was arrested officials found, “weapons, more than a suitcase full of ammo, body armor and other items related to the plans of violence.”
