HOMEWOOD, Ala. —
Homewood city leaders are teaming up with the Alabama Department of Transportation to make Highway 31 safer and more pedestrian-friendly, with plans for new crosswalks, medians, and sidewalks.
Mayor-elect Jennifer Andress has been working towards these improvements since her election to the city council nine years ago.
"We want folks to have an alternative that they don't have to get in their car if they're just making a short trip somewhere or they're trying to exercise," Andress said.
