MASON CITY, Iowa —
A Mason City man is facing a firearm charge after a disturbance that left another man with a gunshot wound.
According to Mason City police, officers were responding to a disturbance on 29th Street Southwest shortly before 4 a.m. on Monday. On the way there, officers found a person involved in the disturbance, identified as 35-year-old Michael Orozco, driving himself to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound.
At the residence, police found evidence of a shooting and recovered a firearm from inside the home.
Police say Orozco was admitted to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, but his injury is not life-threatening.
Cody Dakin, 30, has been charged with being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail
