CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is officially embracing the use of artificial intelligence.

The district’s Board of Education unanimously approved Tuesday night the policy for use of AI technologies in the classroom and by administration. The board says it ensures that AI is "deployed transparently to support academic goals and student development in a responsible and ethical manner, in alignment with district values."

It requires evaluation of all proposed AI systems, responsible usage, privacy warnings, parent transparency and more.

Board members noted how AI is now a prominent part of the corporate world.
