NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — It's all hands on deck to help those in need with nearly 150,000 Rhode Islanders at risk of losing their federal food benefits.
Moms of Marieville in North Providence is one of numerous nonprofit organizations working tirelessly to make sure no family goes hungry should next month's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits be withheld.
"We just don't want anybody to go hungry," said Charlene Smith, director of Moms of Marieville.
Moms of Marieville is asking everyone to drop off food at their headquarters on Charles Street or at the Stop & Shop off Mineral Spring Avenue. The nonprofit also accepts monetary donations as well.
"What's left here is all we have, so we're hoping people find it in their hearts to contact us and make a donation
