CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Amazon says it is cutting 14,000 corporate jobs, as it invests more in artificial intelligence. That represents about five-percent of the online retailer’s overall staff. In June, Amazon’s CEO predicted the looming layoffs. Andy Jassy said that efficiency gains from using AI would cause the company to reduce its corporate workforce over the next few years. In all, some predict nearly 30,000 jobs within the company could be lost. Some people feel as though this is the beginning of the end for people in the work sector.
