Several people from Louisiana are stuck in Jamaica, sheltering from Hurricane Melissa.

It’s a mother’s worst nightmare. She tells WDSU, her daughter is feeling terrified tonight as she continues to shelter in Jamaica, while the storm becomes more intense.

"To say there's nowhere for her to go that just tore me apart,” said Michele LaFrance.

It's been sleepless nights for Michele LaFrance.

"It’s very triggering because for Hurricane Katrina, we loss it all here on the Westbank,” said LaFrance.

Her daughter is stuck in Jamaica, sheltering from the storm.

A vacation to the Caribbean island taking a turn for the worse.

"The trees are bent to the ground, the waves are like 6 feet tall. I'm not exaggerating, and all I could say is Lord, please take care of her,” said LaFrance.
