WHEELING — Ohio County Board of Education members are considering a new policy that would permit Wheeling Park High School seniors the opportunity to wear additional cords and regalia at their graduation ceremony.
The new policy also would establish an appeals process for any student wanting to sport an honor they achieved outside of school activities that presently would not be permitted by the school.
But board members held off this week on approving the changes as they further consider the policy — specifically the stated number of days students would have to appeal a decision about honor regalia at graduation.
The proposed policy, as written, states all graduating seniors shall be permitted to wear all medals, cords, pins, stoles or other regalia awarded by the school or recognized
