The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has alerted the Tamil Nadu Police about an alleged large-scale cash-for-jobs scam in the state’s Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) Department. The agency claimed it unearthed the scam during a raid linked to a bank fraud case involving real estate firm TVH and a relative of DMK Minister KN Nehru.

In a letter to the Tamil Nadu Police Chief, the ED alleged that bribes ranging from Rs 25 to 35 lakh were paid by candidates to secure posts such as Assistant Engineers, Junior Engineers, and Town Planning Officers. The appointments, according to the agency, were handed over by Chief Minister MK Stalin on August 6 this year.
