In an effort to rein in growing internal dissent and repair strained ties with alliance partner Tipra Motha, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday rushed its North East Coordinator and Member of Parliament, Dr. Sambit Patra, from New Delhi to Tripura for a full-scale damage-control exercise.
The high-level intervention comes as factional rifts within the ruling party deepened, and tensions escalated with alliance partner Tipra Motha, ahead of the crucial Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and Village Committee elections.
