SNAP Suspended
SNAP benefits across Nebraska are being paused starting Wednesday as a result of the ongoing government shutdown, according to the state’s Department of Health and Human Services.
The USDA notified DHHS that federally funded SNAP benefits will be delayed if the shutdown continues into November. Anyone on SNAP can continue using remaining benefits on their EBT cards, but new benefits will not be issued during the shutdown. Twenty-five states and the District of Columbia are suing the Agriculture Department over the looming suspension. Those struggling and needing help can dial 211 to reach a statewide resource hotline.
