OMAHA, Neb. —
An Omaha man was sentenced to prison after being charged in connection with a March shooting.
According to court documents, Trayvon McCabe withdrew his previous plea of "not guilty" and plead "no contest" to possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person. The judge sentenced McCabe to four to seven years in prison with credit for time served.
Omaha police say Nicholas Nelson was critically hurt in the shooting near Florence Boulevard and Grace streets. According to an affidavit, Nelson told officers a man and woman argued with him after he went to the wrong garage. Nelson reported that one of them fired a shot as he began to go to his vehicle.
The affidavit states McCabe has a prior conviction for robbery, making it illegal for him to have a gun.
