LAKEWOOD, Ohio -- Lakewood and the Division of Animal Control recently hosted an open house and ribbon cutting at the new animal shelter located at 12910 Berea Road.
“With the demolition of the old refuse center and incinerator, it provided a great location for us to put the animal shelter right on Berea Road with no need for any additional land purchase,” Lakewood Mayor Meghan George said.
“The entire facility is designed for modern needs and improved space for animals and staff. It’s going to provide easier access for residents needing to visit for an adoption as well.”
The $2.1 million cost of the new 3,557-square-foot facility included a $1.5 million Cuyahoga County grant.
