PORTLAND, Ore. — The Stark Street Bridge east of Portland closed again for several hours after being struck by a semitruck Wednesday, according to a release from Multnomah County. Travelers are urged to use alternative routes.
As of 6:51 p.m., about five hours later, county officials said the bridge reopened after crews were able to make temporary repairs. The bridge is safe to use, but the county needs to design and plan permanent repairs in "the near future," the county said in a statement.
On Wednesday afternoon, county officials said that bridge engineers were on their way to the site to evaluate the damage after the bridge first closed around 1:44 p.m.
