Students at St. James School in Montgomery are holding their annual Community Day, with some of them volunteering at the Heart of Alabama Food Bank.

About 25 members of the senior class packed boxes at the food bank. The seniors were told that they needed to make and prepare 400 boxes, working as a team to fill them, put them on the line and and then stacking them on pallets for shipping.

The students said they are thankful to have had this opportunity to help out so many people and it warms their hearts to know that the families receiving the boxes are going to open them and say thank you.

“I’m very happy that we’re doing it, because this does mean a lot to me,” Madison Jackson, a St. James senior, said.
