A young Sudbury professional wrestler and his father are now both grappling with criminal charges.

David Knapman Jr., 19, known as Magnum McLaren in wrestling circles, has been charged with three counts of assault with a weapon, three counts of threatening death/bodily harm, and five counts of assault.

The charges are related to alleged incidents in the city on Jan. 1, 2024, and June 1, 2024.

He had his first appearance court at the Sudbury Courthouse on Sept. 17. His next court date is Nov. 5.

A third-generation wrestler involved with Project X Wrestling, Knapman Jr. has held the title of Canadian heavyweight wrestling champion.
