OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) -- The island of Jamaica is dealing with the aftermath of what officials are calling the strongest storm on record. The devastation has hit home for some including a Tri-State business owner native to the island.

Dwayne Whyte currently lives in Owensboro but was born and raised in Jamaica's Manchester Parish. He spent all of Tuesday morning on the phone with his mother and sister where Hurricane Melissa made landfall on the island. Though able to get in touch with a few family members, Whyte says this was not the case for all his relatives that live in the parish.
