PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania — The Giant Eagle Foundation is committing $1 million to food bank partners across the grocer’s five-state footprint, a timely boost as regional food banks face record demand, the company said in a news release.

The donation will support hunger-relief organizations throughout Giant Eagle’s operating areas in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana and Maryland. It comes as the company addresses food insecurity in the communities it serves.
