The Irish firefighter convicted last week of raping a woman in a downtown Boston hotel while visiting the city last year for the St. Patrick’s Day parade was sentenced Thursday to serve seven to nine years in state prison.
The sentence was handed down to Terence E. Crosbie, 39, by Suffolk Superior Court Judge Joshua Wall.
Crosbie was found guilty by a 12-member jury last Friday after about 15 hours of deliberations over multiple days following a trial in which Crosbie and his accuser took the stand .
At the sentencing hearing Thursday, the woman tearfully described how the rape has disrupted her life and undermined her confidence. She expressed hope that someday she’ll be able to recover.
“My rapist has never offered an apology or any indication of regret for what he did,”
