PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake County NAACP is calling an emergency meeting of local pastors and faith leaders to coordinate a response to expected hardships tied to the upcoming pause in federal food assistance .
NAACP President Rev. Chris Lee said in a press release Thursday that the gathering will focus on uniting churches to support families facing food insecurity and financial strain.
“Our community turns to the church in times of need,” Lee said. “This is a time for leadership, unity, compassion, and action.”
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) currently supports 17,141 Lake County residents, including 6,200 children and 2,510 seniors.
