SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - A Sulphur family is without a home after a fire ripped through their house early this morning.
They had just finished remodeling their home, but now they’re left with nothing.
Sterling Hartley, the father and homeowner, said that even though he was suffering injuries with his hand, the pain is not comparable to the pain he feels in his heart.
Their Rio Hondo home was supposed to be a fresh start for the Hartleys, but just days after finishing renovations, they woke up to smoke billowing from the attic.
“At 7:30, I saw smoke coming out of the air conditioning vents. I rushed outside, put a ladder up, and saw fire coming out of the turbines on the roof. I ripped off one of the turbines and was spraying it. But it was too late,” Hartley said.
