A rail worker who helped to protect passengers during the train stabbing which saw 11 people seriously hurt has been named and pictured.

Samir Zitouni remained in hospital following the mass knife attack onboard a train from Doncaster to London on Saturday, November 1.

The hero, known as Sam, "did not hesitate as he stepped forward to protect those around him", his employer London North Eastern Railway (LNER) said.

LNER said Mr Zitouni, who had worked for the firm for more than 20 years, had been credited with helping to save multiple lives.

David Horne, LNER managing director, said: "In a moment of crisis, Sam did not hesitate as he stepped forward to protect those around him.
