MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A traffic stop led to a brief vehicle pursuit and an arrest Monday evening in Monongalia County, according to the West Virginia State Police.
At about 6:47 p.m. on Nov. 3, Corporal F. E. Little and Trooper J. B. Stearns were conducting routine patrol near Morgantown when they observed a red Ford F-150 traveling west on County Route 857 with defective equipment. When troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, police said the driver refused to pull over and fled at a high rate of speed.
During the chase, the suspect vehicle sideswiped another motorist’s car, damaging its driver-side mirror. Due to the potential risk to the public, Corporal Little voluntarily discontinued the pursuit.
A subsequent investigation led troopers to identify and locate the truck’s occupan
