High wind watches have been issued for 10 New Jersey counties with up to 60 mph gusts possible Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.
The watches issued Tuesday afternoon by the National Weather Service include Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties.
“A strengthening storm tracks to our north later Wednesday into Thursday,” the weather service said. “Strong northwest winds develop later Wednesday, with the strongest winds Wednesday night (gusts 40-60 mph possible). Some areas south of the high wind watch may need a wind advisory.”
Forecasters predict northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts reaching 40 to 60 mph.
