SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Native Americans seeking health care in the state will have more options in 2026.
A nonprofit with locations in Pierre and Sioux Falls has secured nearly $12 million to provide health-related services.
At least 70% of Native Americans don’t live on a reservation, according to Colette Keith of South Dakota Urban Indian Health.
“Very high percentage, obviously,” Keith.
Thanks to funding from the US Government’s Indian Health Service, healthcare is closer to home.
“Which allows us to operate both of our clinics that are in Pierre and Sioux Falls,” Keith explained.
Anyone, native or non-native, can be a patient.
“We’re a federally qualified health care center, and so we operate just like a regular community clinic,” Keith said.
