A letting agent has been fined thousands of pounds for leaving a Peterborough home in “serious disrepair”. Peterborough City Council’s housing standards team were called to a property along Lincoln Road in February 2025 and found it in an extremely poor condition.
The housing team found the property to have several hazards, including extensive damp and mould, damaged ceilings, poor thermal insultation, improper fire evacuation measures, dangerous electrics, and ill-fitting windows.
Due to the risk to tenants, the council served an Improvement Notice to the letting agents - Smart Move Property Solutions (UK) Ltd - requiring works to be completed by May 7, 2025. Council officers returned to the property in May and found works had not been carried out.
